The long anticipated e-conveyancing tool, Veyo has been scrapped.  Veyo was a development promised to the conveyancing market via the joint venture between the Law Society and global IT company Mastek (Legal Practice Technologies).  The Law Society announced their decision to cease funding for the project, last week.  They believe the market has changed radically since the JV was formed in 2014 and have admitted their timetable for bringing the product to market was ‘over-ambitious’.

Free2Convey is a secure portal designed and developed collaboratively by LSSA members.  It is freely available to all parties in a conveyancing chain, designed to integrate easily with other software systems and it provides similar features promised by Veyo such as an online conveyancing chain view and a virtual deal room.

Steve Dixon, co-founder and Development Director for Select Legal said, “It is a shame so much time, money and effort has been wasted on the Veyo project. There is a wealth of knowledge, experience and expertise amongst the members of the LSSA who collectively supply legal software to around 90% of UK law firms. We continually work hard to understand our clients legal technology needs and would have been happy to advise the Veyo team on our thoughts re the portal from the outset.
