The Legal Software Suppliers Association (LSSA) has pooled the expertise and knowledge of its members, who collectively provide legal software to approximately 90% of UK law firms, to come up with the Free2Convey concept.
As the name suggests Free2Convey is a secure portal that is being made freely available to all parties in a conveyancing chain and it is designed to integrate easily with other software systems. Currently in beta testing the portal includes a Conveyancing Chain View and an Online Virtual Deal Room where parties can collaborate. The not-for-profit organisation is planning its ‘go-live’ for the end of this year.
Veyo is the commercial joint venture between Mastek UK and The Law Society who created a flurry of hype earlier this year about their plans to launch a similar portal for conveyancers for an annual fee of £50 and a transaction fee of £20.
Steve Dixon, Director and co-owner of Select said, “For portals like Free2Convey and Veyo to succeed, they have to be totally open and inclusive. Removing barriers that might prevent chain members from using them is the obvious key to success, in my opinion. Lack of integration to established legal case management systems and off-putting charges are obvious barriers that are both addressed by the new LSSA portal. However, we are pleased to offer our clients integration to both if they want it.”
