Internet Connection

A reliable internet connection is required. If possible it is better to have a connection with a low contention ratio. We recommend a minimum download speed of 0.5Mbps per user and a minimum upload speed of 1Mbps for the site/office. The performance of the service greatly depends on the speed and reliability of your connection to the internet. If possible order a connection with a higher upload speed as well as a high download speed. If you intend scanning documents and uploading them into the system, the time it takes will be dictated by your upload speed.

You can test your connection at //speedtest.btwholesale.com/.

PCs and Laptops – Recommended minimum specification:

These should have 2gb RAM, network card, a Pentium III or above processor, anti-virus and anti-spyware software. Windows Vista or above is supported. Both 32bit and 64bit versions are supported. Windows 8 RT and Windows XP are not supported.

Apple Macs running Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) client are also supported. Currently, Apple Macs require a Microsoft Windows emulator installed for printing via LAWFUSION Direct.

Monitor Settings

The minimum display resolution requirement is 1024 x 768, however for optimum use we recommend a resolution of at least 1440 x 900. We would also recommend a display of at least 17″ screen size.

We recommend the use of default DPI settings. Please note that we are not able to guarantee the screen display quality for all devices and software/operating systems when individual DPI settings are used. For more information please contact our technical support team on 01482 567601.

Printers

Any MS Windows compatible A4 laser printer or ink-jet printer.

Continuous cheque and remittance production can be done using Epson LX-300 or LQ-300 dot matrix printers. Laser cheques are also supported.

E-mail

LAWFUSION Direct Exchange allows seamless use of e-mail on the hosted system, your mobile, and any other device you may have. To move to this service, please consult your sales advisor or account manager.

You are able to use your own Microsoft Exchange e-mail service, so long as it is version 2010 or above and supports Outlook Anywhere.

We do not allow the use of non-exchange e-mail providers, including accounts accessed through POP3 or IMAP.

PCs and Laptops – Recommended minimum specification:

These should have 4gb RAM, 1GB network access, an Intel Core i3 or above processor, Windows 7 Professional or Ultimate, Windows 8 Professional, Windows 8.1, Windows 10 Pro or Enterprise(both 32bit and 64bit operating system versions are supported). Office 2010,  Office 2013, or Office 2016 (32 bit versions only). It is essential that all PCs run the same version of Office.

The Office Starter, Home or Student Editions are NOT supported for use with LAWFUSION due to their lack of automation functionality. Office Starter, Home or Student Editions are “reduced” versions of Office and a full licensed version must be purchased. Office 64 bit versions are not compatible.

For users subscribing to Microsoft Office 365, only the Professional version is supported.

PCs and laptops must also have up-to-date anti-virus and anti-spyware software.

Windows Server

LAWFUSION is compatible with the following Standard, Enterprise and Data Centre versions of Windows Server:

2016, 2012 R2, 2012, 2008 R2 and 2008.

Exchange Server

LAWFUSION is compatible with the following versions of Exchange Server:

2016, 2013 and 2010.

SQL Server Database Software

LAWFUSION Server is powered by Microsoft SQL Server. If you have Windows 2008 or 2011 Small Business Premium Edition on your server, then you already have SQL Server Standard Edition included with it.

If you have less than 15 users then it is possible to use the free-of-charge SQL Server Express Edition.

LAWFUSION is compatible with SQL Server 2008, SQL Server 2008R2, SQL Server 2012, SQL Server 2014 and SQL Server 2016.

If you have Windows 2008 or 2011 Small Business Standard Edition then you may need to purchase SQL Server. There are different licensing models available for SQL Server. Please contact us if you need to review these options.

NOTE: LAWFUSION must also be installed onto a server in order to run overnight jobs.

Wireless Networks

LAWFUSION requires a constant connection to the SQL Server Database. A high speed wired network, with low latency, is recommended for optimal performance.

Acceptable performance on a high latency network is not guaranteed.

Wireless networks are not recommended due to performance and reliability issues, but acceptable performance may be obtained using a Wireless ‘n’ (802.11n) Access Point, though this is not guaranteed.

Support Requirements

An ADSL, Cable or Fibre-optic broadband connection is required with a static IP address. For on-premises installations, VPN or other remote connectivity to the server is also ideal.

We may need to connect to PCs to offer remote support, which we will complete using one of our remote control systems such as LogMeIn Rescue. These applications communicate over HTTPS so should not require any additional configuration or firewall exceptions.

Printers

Any MS Windows compatible A4 laser printer or ink-jet printer.

Continuous cheque and remittance production can be done using Epson LX-300 or LQ-300 dot matrix printers. Laser cheques are also supported.

Remote access to on-site system

Remote access to your in-house system can be achieved by using a broadband or WIFI connection from your remote location to the in-house system. If you have a Remote Desktop Server you can use RDP to connect to it. If you do not have a Remote Desktop Server you can take remote control of your in-house PC provided it is switched on and uses RDP or one of the commercially available remote control tools.
