The LAWFUSION™ system contains a comprehensive Time Recording facility that is extremely easy to use. As the accurate recording of time is essential to any legal practice, it is important that the Time Recording system suits the type of work being recorded. To this aim, we have introduced multiple methods of recording time, combined with a comprehensive range of monitoring, reporting and management tools.
Fee Earner Timers - have been built into the Fee Earner Desktop interface to offer an instant timer facility. The click of a button launches a Time Recording Timer. The system can have up to nine timers active at once so switching between tasks is easy. The booking of non-chargeable time is catered for as well as recording for work prior to an account being opened. Notes can be recorded and also quick launch activities configured.
When working within a case, the system detects which task is being performed and can prompt a Fee Earner to book the appropriate time, presenting a series of defaults for them to select from. The creation of notes, receipt of post, production of documents or any other task can all be prompted for time to be booked. This feature has been very well received with clients reporting an increase in billable time being recorded.
Crime Time Recording - We quickly recognised that criminal lawyers needed a specialised system catering for their needs. Time can be recorded quickly and accurately across multiple files if necessary. It also allows for the entry of billing codes and notes so the completion of the crime forms for both Magistrates and Crown Court cases can be done automatically when combined with the LAWFUSION™ Case Management system.
Time Sheet Entry - This feature is normally used by administrators or cashiers who enter paper based time sheets into the system. It has a quick entry facility retaining previous details so multiple file activities can be booked quickly.
Listed below are some of the key Time Recording features, there are more features available on request.
As Fee Earners enter time on a file throughout the day, the system automatically compiles a time sheet for them. With a click of a button they can view what time they have recorded and adjust entries to ensure they have booked their quota for the day. They can analyse time for any period and for groups of users should they wish, depending on their user privileges.
LAWFUSION™ is continually developing to meet the needs of the market place. One of the latest developments in Time Recording is the ability to record the time of a phone call direct from the telephone system. This functionality uses a technology called Telephone Application Programming Interface (TAPI) and the telephone system must be compatible with this standard. Depending on the actual telephone system used the software cannot only record the time but also automatically list associated active cases, clients and suppliers.
LAWFUSION™ is provided with a full suite of reporting tools, enabling firms to analyse any aspect of performance - for example what percentage of time is chargeable, WIP, or where inefficiencies may be occurring.
Recovery rates, analysis against budgets, graphs, WIP trends, Cost against charge, Aged WIP are just a few examples of the on-screen information available to Fee Earners. This combined with the powerful report generator supplied with LAWFUSION™ gives management true control over the firms' information.
