Leading Regional Practice Produces First HIP

Cozens Hardy LLP, a leading regional conveyancing practice has recently produced their first electronic Home Information Pack (HIP) thanks to their innovative practice management solution LAWFUSION.
Two years ago, the firm, who are specialists in the conveyancing market, had started discussions with Select Legal to discuss the proposed release of this new Government initiative. David Taylor practice manager for the firm explains, “We knew at the outset that the introduction of the new HIP would prove to be a huge problem for conveyancing firms and estate agents alike.”
David’s main concerns were that many of the IT solutions being banded around by software suppliers to the UK legal market were seriously underestimating the complexities of the packs (for example leasehold work) and were not offering a full solution to these problems.
David further commented that “I knew our firm would need a system which would fully comply with the Government regulations in producing these packs, whilst producing it in a truly electronic format. My prerequisite was to have a solution in place that would not only produce these documents quickly and efficiently, but to have a solution that would also compete with other practices offering conveyancing services”.
Thankfully for David, he knew he could rely on Select Legal, the developers of the firm’s practice management solution LAWFUSION and a solution was ready for the original May 2007 deadline.
Steve Dixon comments that, “The Home Information Pack situation had become a fiasco and was creating problems, not only with the buoyancy of the housing market but also with all those businesses associated with it. The continual change of direction with these new packs made it incredibly difficult to get a system up and running and on time to meet the Governments deadlines, but with the help of our clients and a focused development plan we where ready on time and on budget and are very pleased that Cozen Hardy LLP have produced their first HIP.”
